We’re rooting for you to make a home run with reading this summer! Our Summer Reading Program is open to all ages, birth through adult. Read a little bit each day to earn a book, a pool party at Shore Acres, a Town Theatre movie ticket, a Peoria Chiefs ticket (K-8), a Peoria Rivermen ticket (K-12), and the chance to win the grand prize: a family membership at Peoria Riverfront Museum.

Sign up at the library or online at https://engagedpatrons.org/read/?SiteID=2335&ReadID=938. You can start logging your reading on June 6.

Weekly Reading Goal

Read 90 minutes each week. That’s just 15 minutes a day for 6 days each week!

What counts? Pretty much anything, as long as you’re reading, including books, magazines, graphic novels/comics, newspapers, audiobooks, reading to others, and being read to by someone.

Logging Your Reading

Fill in a square on your reading log for every 15 minutes you read in a given week. Or, log your reading time online.

When you reach a prize level, check in at the library to get your prize and have your reading log stamped.

Last date to check in and be eligible for prizes is August 6.

First Base (read the goal for 2 out of 8 weeks): temporary tattoo & bookmark

Second Base (read the goal for 4 out of 8 weeks): McDonald’s ice cream coupon

Third Base (read the goal for 6 out 8 weeks): free book, Shore Acres pool party ticket, Town Theatre movie ticket, Peoria Chiefs ticket (K-8), Peoria Rivermen ticket (K-12), entry into grand prize drawing

Home Run (read the goal for 8 out of 8 weeks): extra entry into grand prize drawing

Home Run Pool Party

Saturday, August 13, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Celebrate your victory with a pool party at Shore Acres! An hour of swimming (10:30 – 11:30 am) will be followed by popcorn and pizza at the pavilion. Ticket required.*

*At least one parent/adult guardian of ticket-holding children must accompany their children. Entry is free for accompanying adult(s), even if the adult(s) have not completed the reading program.

Grand prize drawing

One lucky reader who reads the goal amount for at least 6 out of the 8 weeks will win a family membership to the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
